SCHEDULE/PREVIEW: 2013 Whitehall Borough Community Day

Saturday, Aug. 24: The Pirate Parrot, Doc McStuffins, Joe Grushecky, American Idol finalist Adam Brock and so much more.

Whitehall Borough officials welcome residents and guests for their annual Community Day celebration on Saturday, Aug. 24, this year. The 2013 theme is "Celebrating Pittsburgh."

The event is held at Snyder Park and the nearby Edwin F. Brennan Plaza (next to the borough swimming pool) and borough community room (next to the borough library) and will run from approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SNYDER PARK

8 a.m.: 5,000-meter (5K) race/walk and 1-mile fun walk registration
9:15 a.m.: 5K race/walk and 1-mile fun walk
10 a.m.: Race prizes and Citizen of the Year award
10 a.m.-4 p.m.: Children's Center, including Pittsburgh-themed inflatables, rides, games, airbrush tattoos, crafts and more
Noon:
Performance by Premier Gym & Cheer
1 p.m.: Performance by Dance Workshop by Shari
2 p.m.:
Performance by Shade Sisters Dance Studio
2-4 p.m.: Radio Disney and Children's Community Pediatrics "Doc McStuffins Clinic" (Kids, bring your stuffed animals for a checkup.)
3 p.m.:
Performance by Mon River Arts

BRENNAN PLAZA

All day: Food booths, informational vendors, raffles and prize giveaways
11:30 a.m.:
 Performance by Baldwin High School marching band
Noon: Introduction of borough officials
12:30 p.m.: Performance by Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers
1-2 p.m.: Appearance by The Pirate Parrot
2 p.m.: Performance by Pure Gold
2-4 p.m.: Pittsburgh celebrity meet & greet tent
3 p.m.:
Awards ceremony
4 p.m.: Performance by American Idol finalist Adam Brock

COMMUNITY ROOM

1-2 p.m.: The Whitehall Public Library and the Whitehall Community Lions Club host Therapy Dogs International Chapter 207 "Tail Waggin' Tutors." (Meet nine therapy dogs of different breeds.)

Free parking and a shuttle bus service to Community Day festivities will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at First Commonwealth Bank along Route 51 and at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of South Hills and Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral along Maxwell Drive.

(Due to road closures, it is best to enter the event and parking areas via Route 51, not Brownsville Road.)
