ReplyBarchfeld is a goof.
He forgot to include the ENTIRE citation from Minor v Happersett (HvH)
you know, the part where the MvH court says that the MvH opinion had nothing to do with chidren of parents who were not citizens.
In 1898, SCOTUS did addreess this issue in the Wong Kim Ark case and found that, yes, if you are born here, then you are a natural born citizen, with no regards to your parent's status.

Actually, under U.S. law ath the time he was born, Spiro Agnew's mother was not an American citizen either.
Charles Hughes was another VPOTUS who did not have two citizen parents. His mother was an American Indian.

Don, the 14 year requirement exists because the age of majority used to be 21 21+14=35, the minimum age to be president.
