The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Pittsburgh region, including Baldwin Borough, Whitehall Borough and Baldwin Township, from 11 p.m. on Sunday until 2 p.m. on Monday. A period of snow and freezing rain is possible overnight, which may change to all rain by Monday afternoon. A winter weather advisory means that snow, sleet or freezing rain will make travel difficult. A winter weather advisory has been issued for our area.
Expect freezing rain and ice accumulations of about a tenth of an inch on Friday in the Pittsburgh area. That's the word from the National Weather Service, which issued a winter weather advisory that is in effect on Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The freezing rain is expected to begin between 6 and 8 a.m. and end between 1 and 3 p.m. The weather service warns of hazardous travel conditions because of ice-covered roads. There could be very little rush to the Monday morning rush hour. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday for most of western Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh's South Hills area. You'd better bundle up this week, as bitterly cold temperatures are expected to move into Pittsburgh. There is also a chance of snow on Monday and Tuesday in the South Hills.
You'd better bundle up this week, as bitterly cold temperatures are expected to move into the Pittsburgh region, including Baldwin-Whitehall. Dennis Sims, a meteorologist at Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville Borough, told Patch this past week that he expected the bitter temperatures to arrive in the city's South Hills area on Tuesday. Sims said that the middle of the week would have low temperatures in the single digits and highs in the teens. That forecast was backed up by the National Weather Service. Meteorologists there are also forecasting 1 to 2 inches of snow on Monday with a slight chance of snow on Tuesday. A winter weather advisory is in effect through Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Allegheny County beginning Tuesday night and lasting into Wednesday morning. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected in our area, and the advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. on Tuesday until 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Accumulation of 1 to 2 inches of snow along with a light glaze from freezing rain is expected. The weather could cause hazardous travel conditions due to snow, sleet and ice-covered roads. Weather forecasters issue a winter storm warning for the Pittsburgh area.
The National Weather Service in Moon Township has issued a winter storm warning for Allegheny County, effective from 5 a.m. on Wednesday through 6 a.m. on Thursday. Four to 8 inches of snow are expected to accumulate throughout Wednesday with heavy snow occurring mid-morning through the afternoon. Sleet and freezing rain are also expected. Visibility for motorists could be limited to a quarter-of-a-mile during heavy snows, according to the weather service. Hazardous travel conditions are expected. It's going to be a snowy weekend! And if you just shoveled your driveway or sidewalk, get ready to do it again. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow in the Pittsburgh area, going into effect at 7 p.m. on Friday and ending at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The area is supposed to get one quarter of an inch of ice and 1 to 4 inches of snow in total. Friday night's low temperature is expected to be 24 degrees, with a high of 32 on Saturday. Snow likely will start before midnight on Saturday, followed by snow, freezing rain and sleet. New, overnight snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible. The National Weather Service is calling for snow showers at around rush hour.
No need to scurry off to the grocery store to buy the obligatory milk, bread and toilet paper, as National Weather Service meteorologist Lee Hendricks says that Thursday's snowfall in and around Pittsburgh shouldn't be a big deal. With light snow this morning and a chance of about an inch more of it this afternoon, drivers should nonetheless exercise caution on the roads during rush hour—when the flakes should really begin flying. Also on tap on Thursday? Wind gusts of up to 35 mph, Hendricks said. Another inch of the white stuff is expected overnight when temperatures are expected to hover in the teens.
