Return Policies for Those Unwanted Gifts

Stores will be swamped with returns after Christmas.

Christmas is over, so traffic at the stores will die down, right? Wrong. Time for all of those unwanted holiday gifts to get returned. To make your life a little bit easier, here are the return policies for some of the Pittsburgh area's largest retailers: Macy's Items can be returned at any location. If you have a voucher, you can return an item in its original form at any time. If you don't have a proof of purchase, you can get store credit at the item's lowest selling price within the past 180 days. Click here for more information. Suspected Heroin Overdose on Skyline Drive

Suspected Overdose Whitehall Borough police officers arrived at a residence in the 1600 block of Skyline Drive in the Wallace (Prospect) Park area at around 9:47 a.m. on Sunday for a report of an unconscious male, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. Crews from Medical Rescue Team South Authority also came to the scene to find the man—Nicholas Antonio Miller, 24, of 2922 Glenmore Ave. in Dormont Borough—in a state of "ineffective breathing," Danko said. Danko said that Miller was suffering from an apparent overdose of a controlled substance and that he was in possession of a syringe that contained what is suspected to be heroin. An ambulance took him to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment, Danko said. A Mercy representative …

State Rep. Martin Michael Schmotzer has issued a news release to thank the residents of Pennsylvania's 22nd House District for the opportunity to serve them. Schmotzer's term in the House comes to a close today, Nov. 30. Two BHS Students Linked to Burglary on Flamingo Drive

Burglary on Flamingo Drive Residents from the 4800 block of Whitehall Borough's Flamingo Drive called the Whitehall Police Department on Monday, Dec. 19, at around 12:17 p.m. to report a burglary there. The residents said that cash and electronics were recently taken from their home. Whitehall police officers responded to Flamingo Drive, searched the area and interviewed neighbors. Officers on patrol earlier that day reported seeing two juvenile males walking around the area. After establishing descriptions of those two males, the Whitehall police spoke to officials from nearby Baldwin High School, who said that two males who fit those descriptions were sent home from the high school earlier that day. South Hills Interfaith Ministries Receives Wal-Mart Grant

The organization's Pantry Plus program, as well as other local organizations, will benefit from Wal-Mart donations.

South Hills Interfaith Ministries (SHIM), which runs the Prospect Park Family Center in Whitehall Borough, was the recipient on Thursday of a grant presented by Wal-Mart and The Walmart Foundation. SHIM, headquartered in Bethel Park, received $30,000 to run its Pantry Plus program. “Poverty is usually hidden in suburban communities, but all of that is beginning to change as the needs keep growing,” said Jim Guffey, executive director of SHIM, which has a pantry that distributes more than 250,000 pounds of food per year. Funding from Wal-Mart and The Walmart Foundation targets organizations working to help those in need in the Pittsburgh area.
