FORECAST: Sleet, Snow Possible in Baldwin-Whitehall

A winter weather advisory has been issued for our area.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Pittsburgh region, including Baldwin Borough, Whitehall Borough and Baldwin Township, from 11 p.m. on Sunday until 2 p.m. on Monday. A period of snow and freezing rain is possible overnight, which may change to all rain by Monday afternoon. FORECAST: Winter Storm in Baldwin-Whitehall

A winter storm advisory is still in effect until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service's winter storm warning for the Pittsburgh area remains in effect through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, but initial forecasts seem to have overestimated the amount of snow for the region. Nevertheless, many schools in and near the Baldwin-Whitehall area delayed the start of classes on Wednesday or canceled classes altogether. UPDATE: All Community College of Allegheny County locations will have a 10 a.m. start, according to the college's website. FORECAST: Weather Service Warns of Freezing Rain, Icy Roads

A winter weather advisory has been issued for our area.

Expect freezing rain and ice accumulations of about a tenth of an inch on Friday in the Pittsburgh area. That's the word from the National Weather Service, which issued a winter weather advisory that is in effect on Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The freezing rain is expected to begin between 6 and 8 a.m. and end between 1 and 3 p.m. The weather service warns of hazardous travel conditions because of ice-covered roads. North Baldwin, jwill. All clear till sometime after 5, yes, by 5:30 some snow was starting to stick on the roads, but by a little past 6, the trucks had done their work here. All clear again. Still snowing so I expect to hear those trucks again tonight.   more ›

Advisory/Forecast: Expect Lots of Snow This Weekend

The National Weather Service forecasts hazardous travel conditions.

Two Clipper-type systems will mean lots of snow in western Pennsylvania this weekend, according to the National Weather Service. A winter weather advisory for snow is in effect from 10 a.m. on Saturday to 7 p.m. on Sunday. The weather service forecasts snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches, and those totals could go as high as 6 to 10 inches in higher-ridge elevations. The snow will begin mid-morning Saturday and end Sunday evening, with the heaviest snow coming on Saturday afternoon into midday Sunday, the NWS states on its website.
