Charges Filed Against Man in Baldwin Police Shooting

Bryan Lijewski faces one felony charge and nine misdemeanors.

Baldwin Borough police have charged Bryan Robert Lijewski, 30, with one felony and nine misdemeanors stemming from their appearance at Lijewski's home on Elmwood Drive in central Baldwin on Feb. 10, according to an online docket sheet. Police went to Lijewski's home at 5147 Elmwood at around 4 a.m. that day in response to a domestic disturbance involving a female resident who told police that her boyfriend, who also lives at the home, was holding a gun and was threatening to harm himself, Allegheny County police Superintendent Charles Moffatt said at a news conference later that day. The incident resulted in the injury of Baldwin Borough police Sgt. Ralph Miller, who was shot twice in the hip/lower back area by a fellow Baldwin officer …

Fights Along Curry Road Cap Youth Football Banquet

The incident occurred on Saturday night at Salvatore's in south Baldwin Borough.

Baldwin Borough police went to the Curry Commons shopping plaza in south Baldwin at around 10:33 p.m. on Saturday for a report of multiple fights and a driver suspected by police of being intoxicated leaving the plaza's parking lot with children. The incident took place after a banquet for Thomas Jefferson Youth Football at Salvatore's of Little Giant World of Catering. According to a police report of the incident, multiple witnesses said that they saw Gregory M. Borneman, 31, of Chelton Avenue in Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood, fighting with other men both before and after driving his car in and near the parking lot. Police: Heroin Found by K-9, Remnant City Burglarized and More

Heroin Found by K-9 on Spring Valley Drive A Whitehall Borough police officer monitoring traffic in the 5300 block of Spring Valley Drive stopped a vehicle for speeding at around 9:55 a.m. on Monday, Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said. As the officer interacted with the speeding driver—Paul Howard Schuetz, 29, of 243 Whitehaven Dr. in Richland Township—Schuetz appeared nervous and fidgety, Dolfi said. The officer then noticed an orange needle cap beneath Schuetz's seat, which he reported that Schuetz was trying to conceal. Unluckily for Schuetz, the officer had a K-9 unit available and used the dog to search for and locate heroin and drug paraphernalia in Schuetz's vehicle. With Friends like These …  Whitehall Borough police officers went to check on the welfare of a Bevan Apartments resident at around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday only to discover that the resident was actually worried about the safety of her friend, who was not there. Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said that the resident told the officers that she and a friend had gotten into a verbal argument earlier that night before the friend left the apartment. The resident told officers that she was concerned about her friend's state of mind. The officers obtained a description of the friend, searched the surrounding area and eventually found her. Police Surveillance Leads to Drug Bust on Bel Air Drive Patience paid off for members of the Whitehall Police Department on July 31. Officers, according to Whitehall Borough police Chief Donald R. Dolfi, had been involved in an "ongoing investigation" of 3197 Bel Air Dr. for some time regarding possible drug activity there before executing a search warrant on the home at around 11:45 a.m. that day. The officers, acting on information given to them by concerned residents of the immediate area, had been conducting surveillance on a resident of that address, Dolfi said. Injured Man, Fight, Warrant Out As the annual Caste Village fireworks show was wrapping up in Whitehall Borough at around 10 p.m. on Friday, a collection of Whitehall police officers received a report of an injured male lying on the ground in the main Caste parking lot. Officers found the male, who had recently received a blow to his mouth area, Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said. Police called medics to the scene and cleared the area to treat the victim. The officers interviewed witnesses and were pointed to the direction that the attacker fled after allegedly striking the victim from his rear, blind side. Witnesses knew the attacker by name. Man Cited for Harassment After Run-in with Baldwin Athletics Director Charles Pritchard, 57, of 501 Leland Drive in Baldwin Borough, was forced to leave the WPIAL AAA Section 2 individual wrestling championships at Baldwin High School on Saturday after Baldwin High's Athletics Director Vince Sortino summoned Whitehall Borough police to the school to handle Pritchard. Sortino said that Pritchard was involved in a near-fight at the high school with another man and that he accosted Sortino himself, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko reported.
