And one other drugs story in these Whitehall police notes.

Whitehall Woman Charged Police are charging Briana Wisniewski, 20, of 525 Greenlee Rd. in Whitehall Borough, with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers responded to a call from the 1600 block of Parkline Drive in Whitehall's Wallace (Prospect) Park area at around 11:30 p.m. on May 9, according to Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko. Not Exactly What They Were Looking for Whitehall police officers went to the 1700 block of Skyline Drive in the Prospect Park area at around 8:05 p.m. on Sunday in search of a female who was allegedly trying to break into cars there. Website Spurs Group into Breaking into Old Whitehall Country Club, Police Say

The group is accused of trying to skateboard inside of an abandoned swimming pool.

Police officers were called to the old Whitehall Country Club property along Provost Road at around 3:20 p.m. on May 1 in response to possible trespassers there, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. When officers arrived, they reported finding a group of six men in their 20s and 30s and charged each of them with defiant trespass. "They read someplace on a website from other people that you could go to this property and skateboard in the abandoned swimming pool," Danko said. Danko said that the group took an unlocked chain off of a post near the property's entrance and pushed through a gate to gain access to the club's swimming pool area. The property's owner was driving by the area and saw the group. Charged were Nicholas …

Rumor is that the property will be developed shortly. Either a group of townhomes 15-18 or a few quality apartment buildings. The buildings will be smaller than the ones in Prospect Park 5 or 6 units in each building but more "high end" geared to professionals since it is on the bus line.   more ›

Man Charged with Drunkenly Setting Off Frisch's Burglar Alarm

And four other stories in these Whitehall police notes.

Man Sets Off Frisch's Alarm Police officers responded to a burglar alarm activated at Frisch's Restaurant in Whitehall Borough at around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. After investigating the incident at the popular Caste Village business, including interviewing a resident of nearby Grove Road, the officers learned that an individual had run from the restaurant area shortly after the alarm had gone off. Police tracked that individual down on nearby Weyman Road, Danko said, and identified him as Joseph Iannaccio, 28, of 332 Flowers Ave. in Pittsburgh's Hazelwood neighborhood, Danko said.  Iannaccio was in "a highly intoxicated condition," according to the deputy chief, and was taken into custody …

Giant Eagle Manager Nabs 'Gangster Squad' Thief, Police Say

The store's manager has helped to thwart theft four times since November.

Caste Village Giant Eagle Manager Phillip Scott did his best John O'Mara impression on May 1, helping to nab his fourth would-be thief since November 2012, according to Whitehall Borough police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko. At around 12:19 p.m. that day, Whitehall police received a call from the store reporting the apprehension of a shoplifter, Danko said. Upon investigation, police learned that Carly Sarasnick, 33, of 636 Judith Dr. in Baldwin Borough, was stopped by Scott as she tried to leave the store without paying for three videodiscs in her possession, including—coincidentally enough—a copy of the 2013 movie Gangster Squad starring Sean Penn as notorious thief Mickey Cohen. The one I spoke to works at the Bethel Park location, he's been there about 2 years now. I did not ask how much money he makes, as that's really none of my business, unless he had brought it up himself, which he did not in that conversation. As you and I both said, things could have changed, and there are other variables to consider.   more ›

Baldwin Man Arrested at Sunoco/APlus on Route 51 in Whitehall

Also, a 10-year-old is charged with stealing a fire extinguisher, and one other Whitehall police story from this past week.

Public Drunkenness Charge After Police Claim Disobedience A Whitehall Borough police officer on patrol stopped at the Sunoco/APlus gas station and convenience store along Route 51 at around 12:53 a.m. on Friday. When the officer walked into the store, he observed a man arguing with a clerk in what appeared to be an intoxicated state, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. The officer advised the man—John Mallon Kearns, 21, of 541 Elaine Dr. in Baldwin Borough—not to get into his car in his current condition and drive away, but Kearns responded to the officer with vulgarity and dismissiveness, Danko said, and tried to get into his car anyway. The officer prevented Kearns from doing so and arrested him in the store's parking …

Another Theft-from-Vehicle Victim in Whitehall

And three other stories in these borough police notes.

Theft from Vehicle Whitehall Borough police received a call from a resident of the 3200 block of Longwood Drive on Friday. The resident reported that, sometime during Thursday night or Friday morning, somebody went into his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in his driveway and removed 15-20 $1 bills and some personal keys, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. The theft is under investigation. There have been numerous theft-from-vehicle cases reported recently in Whitehall and Baldwin boroughs. "Note to all readers," Danko said on Jan. 15, "lock your cars." Marijuana Possession A Whitehall police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving Wallace (Prospect) Park at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday and stopped the vehicle on …

I find it comical that one chooses to mark their territory by urinating all over it. One could make the argument that Ms. Difrancesco had a full bladder and could not control herself (a la Kareem Abdul Jabar at night clubs). Either way, Whiteheads 1 – Brentwood – 0   more ›

As with similar Jan. 20 and Jan. 4 reports, Duquesne Light corporate security personnel contacted Whitehall police this past Saturday to report that one or more people had recently broken into the power station on Earlsdale Road and removed copper wiring. Man Sets Off Own Smoke Alarm, Hit with Marijuana Charge

And five other stories in these Whitehall Borough police notes.

Marijuana Alarm Whitehall Borough police responded to a smoke alarm at 4348 Seton Dr. at around 6:39 p.m. on Jan. 15 only to find that the homeowner's marijuana smoke admittedly had caused the alarm, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. The home's alarm notifies local police when it is triggered. When police arrived at 4348 Seton, they met the homeowner—William J. Korach, 33—at his doorway and detected an odor of marijuana coming from the house. Korach said that the alarm was false, but upon further investigation, police located a small amount of marijuana and some drug paraphernalia that Korach said was his, Danko said. The deputy chief said that Korach admitted to smoking marijuana and that that's what set off his alarm. …

Smoking odors, are the hardest odors to eliminate, why do they hang, around when the sources of the odors are no longer there? The offensive smells you associate with odor is almost always gases released from their sources. These invisible gases attach onto floating air molecules, which drift with the air currents in the room. Over time some dissipate and others most notably smoking and urine …   more ›

Man Charged with Stealing Woman's Underwear, Socks in Whitehall

Jozo Grgic told a judge the story, police Deputy Chief Richard Danko said.

In a classic case of putting your foot in your mouth, Whitehall Borough police are charging Jozo Grgic, 52, of Whitehall, with theft, harassment and creating a false fire alarm after Grgic admitted to stealing a woman's underwear and socks in the Wallace (Prospect) Park area, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. While appearing as a defendant during a Jan. 16 summary trial related to a separate harassment case involving the same woman, Grgic, who lives at 1651 Skyline Dr., Apt. 24, said in front of District Magistrate David J. Barton that he pulled a fire alarm at 1651 Skyline on Dec. 24 so that people would leave that building in order for him to steal items that the woman had left in its laundry room, according to Danko. …
