PNC Bank Customers Encounter Log-in Problems

The Pittsburgh-based bank seems to be the latest victim in reported cyber attacks on major U.S. banks.

Some PNC Bank customers have reported problems on Thursday logging into their online accounts. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the Pittsburgh-based institution apparently is the latest victim in a wave of cyber attacks on major U.S. banks. Bank spokesman Fred Solomon told the Post-Gazette on Thursday morning that if a customer can't reach the PNC website or log in on his or her first attempt, the customer should just return to the site a little later. Solomon said that some people were also having problems accessing mobile banking. Nearby: Dormont Dogs Owner Arrested for Bank Robberies

Pittsburgh police arrested Captain Barnes, co-owner of Dormont Dogs, in connection with multiple area bank robberies.

Pittsburgh police arrested a Dormont Borough restaurant owner in connection with two local bank robberies. Captain Barnes, 37, of Dormont, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with robbing a PNC Bank branch on Brookline Boulevard on Monday. Barnes is a co-owner of Dormont Dogs. He also will be charged with robbing the Citizens Bank branch of a Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh's South Side area on Wednesday morning. According to a report by the Pittsburgh police, Barnes walked into the PNC Bank in Brookline at around 10:50 a.m. on Monday, told a teller that he was armed with a gun and demanded $10,000 in cash. UPDATES: PNC Bank in Brookline Robbed

The branch on Brookline Boulevard was robbed on Monday morning.

UPDATE: A man has been arrested in connection to the incident. UPDATE: Pittsburgh police have not made any arrests in yesterday's bank robbery in Brookline, but they have provided a description of the suspect. The suspect is a white man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing a brown pullover jacket, blue jeans, black gloves and a blue baseball cap with a "P" on it. He also had a black-and-white scarf covering his face. At around 11 a.m. on Monday, the man walked into the PNC Bank branch on Brookline Boulevard and demanded money. A teller gave him money, and then the man ran out of the bank's front door and down Stebbins Avenue. No weapons were used during the incident. Those with information are …

Two BHS Students Linked to Burglary on Flamingo Drive

Burglary on Flamingo Drive Residents from the 4800 block of Whitehall Borough's Flamingo Drive called the Whitehall Police Department on Monday, Dec. 19, at around 12:17 p.m. to report a burglary there. The residents said that cash and electronics were recently taken from their home. Whitehall police officers responded to Flamingo Drive, searched the area and interviewed neighbors. Officers on patrol earlier that day reported seeing two juvenile males walking around the area. After establishing descriptions of those two males, the Whitehall police spoke to officials from nearby Baldwin High School, who said that two males who fit those descriptions were sent home from the high school earlier that day. Port Authority Plans Holiday Schedule for Thanksgiving, Weekend Detours

Bus routes with stops downtown, on the North Side and in the Strip District will operate with temporary detours during holiday festivities.

Port Authority of Allegheny County will operate all bus, light-rail "T" and incline service on a holiday schedule on Thursday, Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving), and will operate with detours and special schedules throughout the weekend on bus routes with stops in downtown Pittsburgh, on the city's North Side and in the Strip District. Detours will be in effect from 7 to 11 a.m. on Thursday for about 30 bus routes that serve downtown and the North Shore neighborhood due to annual PNC YMCA Turkey Trot races, which begin at 9 a.m. at PNC Park. Detour details are posted at www.portauthority.org, or you can contact a Port Authority customer service representative at 412-442-2000. For the speech- and hearing-impaired (TTY), call 412-231-7007.
