Local Pets Resources: Thursday Is National Pet Day

Where can I care for my pet in Baldwin-Whitehall? Or should I adopt?

National Pet Day is Thursday, April 11, and what better time to care for your critter? Or perhaps this is the right time to adopt a new pet. According to petdayusa.com, the day was started by celebrity pet lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige in order "to celebrate the joy pets bring to our lives and to create public awareness about the plight of many different kinds of animals awaiting a forever home in shelters all across the nation." There are a few popular Pittsburgh-area shelters where you can adopt pets, including Animal Friends along Camp Horne Road in Ohio Township and the Animal Rescue League along Hamilton Avenue in Larimer. Man Charged with Four Whitehall Place Burglaries

Common thread was no forced entry.

Police believe that a subcontractor is responsible for a series of burglaries at a Whitehall Place Apartments building in July, Whitehall Borough police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said on Tuesday. The four burglaries occurred between July 9 and July 29, all in apartments at 1725 Skyline Dr. Dolfi credited Whitehall police officer Brett Newbould for "taking the lead" on the case. Newbould observed that, in each of the four burglaries, no forced entry was needed to steal from the victims. Newbould, with assistance from Whitehall Place management, interviewed Whitehall Place employees and subcontractors regarding the burglaries, in which approximately $4,000 in goods and cash were stolen. Among the goods taken were jewelry and electronic items. …

Officer Newbould is a great cop. He was instrumental in cracking the case of the Baldwin High student thugs who burglarized the South Hills Country Club. He worked hard as did the others on this case. All that hard work and you would think the thugs would have gotten a punishment for burglarizing the country club to finance their senior trip to Ocean City.
