Nearby: Route 885 Roadwork

Lane closures will occur on weekdays from Dec. 3-12.

Crews from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0 will cause intermittent, short-term lane closures on Route 885 (Mifflin Road) on weekdays from Dec. 3-12 due to geotechnical drilling and research for several proposed culvert (water tunnel) replacements. The work will occur on the border of Pittsburgh's Hays and New Homestead neighborhoods—from Mifflin Road's intersection with Slate Street to its intersection with Doerrville Avenue. The lane closures will occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on work days. Motorists should use caution and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. Arrest for DUI, Drugs in North Baldwin

Motorist will be charged with a number of offenses.

A man is being charged with driving under the influence of both alcohol and drugs and possession of both a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after his vehicle was pulled over on Mifflin Road in Pittsburgh's Hays neighborhood by a Baldwin Borough police officer in the early morning of Sept. 22. (UPDATE: The possession of a controlled substance charge was withdrawn on Jan. 22.) According to a police report, the man—David Alan Hitt, 24, of Homeridge Dr. in the New Homestead neighborhood—failed to dim his vehicle's high beams while driving south toward the officer on north Baldwin's stretch of East Carson Street/River Road at around 3:34 that day.
