Baldwin Resident Wants to Revamp McAnulty Park

And other notes from Tuesday night's borough council meeting.

McAnulty Park Ever been to McAnulty Park? Ever even heard of it? You're probably not alone. But Brian Urban sure has, and he sees room for improvement. The park is made up of a hilly green space, a walking trail, a gazebo and basketball/tennis courts and is found between Meadowcrest Road and Carmen Drive in south Baldwin (behind McAnnulty Elementary School). Borough Manager John Barrett called the park on Tuesday, "admittedly, very underutilized." "Trash, graffiti, drug use, underage alcohol abuse, …

Streetlights Remain an Issue for Some Baldwin Residents

'The street is dark.' - Dave Brogan, Meadowcrest Road

Residents from close, parallel streets in south Baldwin Borough didn't plan to show up at Tuesday night's regular Baldwin Council meeting with the same complaint, they said. It just worked out that way. The complaint: It's too dark in Baldwin. Speaking to the council first during public-comments time was Sandra Beyer of Blossom Drive. Police Show Restraint During Baldwin Homicide Incident

Chief Michael Scott reveals some incredible details of the encounter, praising his officers.

Baldwin Borough police Chief Michael Scott said that his officers showed remarkable restraint and judgment during a homicide incident in south Baldwin on Nov. 4. Scott praised his officers during Tuesday night's Baldwin Council meeting while revealing some details of the encounter. After Benjamin Conway Jr. shot his wife in their home on Meadowcrest Road, Scott said, Conway lost the gun that he used to commit the act during a tussle with his half-brother, who was also in the home at the time. The brother then ran from Conway and away from the home, where police officers were stationed nearby, Scott said. "He came outside, running with the gun still in his hand," Scott said of the half-brother. "He could have been shot by our officers but …
