Whitehall Man Arrested for DUI (Underage) in Baldwin

Charges for Whitehall, Baldwin Township Men A Baldwin Borough police officer approached a motorist stopped in a driveway along the 600 block of Charlotte Drive at around 2 p.m. on Saturday for almost causing an accident near that driveway, according to a police report. The officer reported smelling alcohol coming from the vehicle of the driver—Christopher James Laplace, 20, of Glowood Drive in Whitehall Borough—who said that he was visiting a friend on Charlotte. Laplace, who was joined by four other people in his vehicle, later changed his story and said that he was dropping people off at the Charlotte driveway, the officer reported. Police Look for Pit Bull's Owner After Biting Incident

The dog's owner has not yet been identified.

A Baldwin Borough police officer went to the Uni-Mart at the intersection of Keeport Drive and Knoedler Road in south Baldwin at around 6:35 p.m. on Nov. 26 for a dog bite incident, according to a police report. The officer spoke to a victim at the scene, who said that he was bit by a pit bull that was tied up near the Uni-Mart entrance about 30 minutes earlier. The victim, who works at the convenience store, said that he was taking trash to the store's dumpster when he was attacked by the dog, which had its leash attached to a clothing donation receptacle while its owner was inside of the store. The victim said that he then spoke to the dog's owner about the attack before the owner took his dog and left the area. The victim then finished …

Wednesday's Powerball a Record $500 Million (or More) Jackpot

The historic Powerball jackpot rose to a record $500 million on Tuesday, and many Baldwin-Whitehall residents are expected to purchase a ticket on Wednesday—if they haven't already. According to this Pennsylvania Lottery Web page, there are quite a few places to purchase a Powerball ticket in Baldwin-Whitehall. There has been no Powerball winner since Oct. 6. The chance of winning the $500 million jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510. The Powerball is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Ticket sales are cut off at least 59 minutes before the draw. Each ticket costs $2. Good luck. Whitehall Man Arrested for DUI in Baldwin Boro

And a Mount Washington woman is arrested for the same thing.

Whitehall Man Arrested A Baldwin Borough police officer stopped motorist Thomas Edward Brannan, 63, of Sherwood Drive in Whitehall Borough, in the Brownsville Plaza parking lot at around 3:40 a.m. on Nov. 17 for erratic driving, according to a police report. The officer tried to pull Brannan over in the 100 block of Knoedler Road, he reported, but Brannan drove over a sidewalk and a grassy area in front of the south Baldwin shopping center before stopping in front of Dave's Terrace Bakery. The officer smelled alcohol upon approaching Brannan and reported that Brannan admitted to recently drinking alcohol. Baldwin Police Arrest Man After Motorcycle Accident

And four other stories in these borough police notes, including another involving a motorcycle.

Motorcycle, Part I A Baldwin Borough police officer went to the 400 block of Grace Street at around 8:06 p.m. on Nov. 11 for a report of a man who fell off of his motorcycle there. When the officer arrived, he observed the biker—Joseph Micha Martin, 63, who lives on that street—pushing his vehicle to the side of the road with the assistance of two bystanders, according to a police report. The officer asked Martin what happened, and Martin said that his black Harley Davidson had stalled, causing him to fall off. The officer reported smelling alcohol on Martin's breath and that Martin admitted to recently drinking alcohol. He then put Martin through field-sobriety tests, which he failed, before arresting him and taking him to Jefferson …

Bethel Park Man Arrested in Baldwin Borough

Incident occurred early on Sunday morning.

A Baldwin Borough police officer observed a man driving erratically near Baldwin's Brownsville Road-Knoedler Road intersection at around 12:52 a.m. on Sunday. The officer eventually stopped the motorist—Jeffrey Krause, 52, of Wallace Avenue in Bethel Park—at the Brownsville-Hacienda Drive intersection and smelled alcohol upon conversing with Krause, according to a police report. The officer also reported that Krause admitted to recently drinking alcohol. Krause was put through field-sobriety and breath-analyzer tests, which he failed, before being arrested and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was then taken to the Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test (results pending) before being taken …
