It has been one year since the death of a young woman who friends say could light up a room with her smile. On Saturday evening, as they did a year ago, friends and family of Karissa Marie Kunco, who had been residing in Baldwin Borough with her father before she died, gathered at the cannon monument on Brookline Boulevard to remember her. "We're trying to do more on the positive side," said Kunco's aunt, Debbie Ryce. "A year ago today, God received an angel in heaven. We're here to keep her memory alive and be her voice and spread the message against domestic violence." The Washington Observer-Reporter reports that Washington County District Attorney Gene Vittone will seek the death penalty against Jordan Clemons, the man accused of killing Karissa Kunco in January. Kunco, who grew up in Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood, was living with her father in Baldwin Borough at the time of her disappearance. Her body was eventually found in Mt. Pleasant Township. Family and friends of Karissa Kunco—clad in T-shirts bearing her name and the phrase 'Forever Young, Young Forever'—burst into applause on Wednesday afternoon when a judge declared that her ex-boyfriend, Jordan Clemons, would stand trial for her homicide and related charges. Jordan Clemons had what appeared to be blood on his shoes and "significant injuries to his hands," according to a criminal complaint filed on Monday by state police in Washington, PA. The complaint gives new information on the events that led to the Canonsburg Borough man's homicide charges. State police charged Clemons with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, abuse of a corpse and other charges on Monday. District Judge David Mark set Jordan Clemons' bail at $250,000. The former Canonsburg man is already in jail after being unable to post a $250,000 bond on burglary and robbery charges.
A man whom police call a person of interest in a Baldwin Borough woman's stabbing death was arraigned on unrelated charges on Tuesday morning. Jordan Clemons, 22, formerly of Canonsburg Borough, had been charged by Canonsburg police on Friday with escape and fleeing offenses. Those charges stem from a robbery and burglary at a Tannehill Street home on Jan. 8. District Judge David Mark set Clemons' bond at $250,000. A former Canonsburg Borough man wanted for questioning in the death of a Baldwin Borough woman was jailed on $250,000 bond early on Friday for unrelated charges—and two more charges have been filed against him as of Friday afternoon. Jordan Clemons, 22, who lists a Pittsburgh address as his home, was charged by Canonsburg police on Thursday for felony counts of robbery and burglary, as well as assault and theft, online court documents show. On Friday, he was also charged by Canonsburg police with one felony count of flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment and two counts of escape, a misdemeanor.
