REMINDER: Brentwood's 'Night at the Races' Comes to North Baldwin

The Feb. 1 event benefits Brentwood's annual Fourth of July celebration.

The Brentwood 4th of July Committee will hold an annual "Night at the Races" event at north Baldwin Borough's Saint Albert the Great Catholic Parish on Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. The "Night at the Races" is a fundraiser for Brentwood Borough's annual Fourth of July parade and celebration, which committee Chair John Frombach says draws more than 40,000 spectators each year from all over Pittsburgh's South Hills area. "Night at the Races" used to be held at the Brentwood VFW Post 1810, but Frombach said that it has gotten so popular that the committee needs more space to accommodate people. …

Tiny Brentwood has a grand tradition.

Tiny Brentwood Borough will see a population boom for at least two days next week, as guests and residents from in and around Pittsburgh's South Hills area will descend on the community of about 9,000 residents for an Independence Day celebration. Fireworks Show at Caste Village Will Proceed Despite Weather

Rain and storms passing over Whitehall Borough will not cancel Friday's fireworks show.

Despite rain and storms that passed through Whitehall Borough on Friday night, the 2012 fireworks show at Caste Village will go on as planned. Officials from Pyrotecnico, The Royal Mile Company and the Whitehall Fire Company said that they see no reason as to why the show should be canceled or postponed. 2012 Caste Village Fireworks Info

Independence Day celebration begins at 5 p.m. on Friday. Fireworks expected at 9:30.

One of the best yearly attractions in Pittsburgh's South Hills area returns this Friday when Caste Village in Whitehall Borough hosts another Independence Day celebration, starting at 5 p.m. Most Caste stores will be open during the celebration to sell food, refreshments and other goods, including Frisch's Restaurant with its famous service line, Julie's Treats with its candy and ice cream, and many, many others. Of course, the event also includes Caste Village's renowned free fireworks show, which is expected to start at around 9:30 p.m. Pyrotecnico has the fireworks honors this year. Purple and White Don Red, White and Blue for Brentwood's Annual July Fourth Parade

Baldwin-Whitehall residents and groups join in on their next-door neighbors' celebration.

Although residents of Baldwin Township, Baldwin Borough and Whitehall Borough enjoy a different school district than their neighbors from Brentwood Borough, the two districts do enjoy many of the same things, not the least of which is an annual Fourth of July parade that Brentwood hosts along Brownsville Road, the main connecting street to each district for many members of the four municipalities. The Baldwin-Whitehall Patch checked out Brentwood's parade on Independence Day 2011 and saw quite a bit of purple and white from the many B-W residents and groups who joined in on their neighbors' celebration.
