Unsolved Cases: These Are Among Western PA's Solved Ones

These cases from the Pittsburgh area did not have a happy ending, but finding those missing persons might have brought closure to families.

As early as this July, people in the law enforcement community knew that the remains of Amanda Sue Myers of Pittsburgh had been identified through DNA comparison. However, it was only about a week ago when Pittsburgh police finally released the news. In July, two separate sources told Patch that Myers had been identified but that police wanted to hold off on releasing information until some interviews had been conducted. Amanda, who was 22 years old at the time of her death, was last seen alive in Pittsburgh at the end of 1999 but may have been in Florida and Tennessee as late as April 2000. She was not reported missing until 2007, according to the Pennsylvania Missing Persons website.  Known unofficially as Homestead Jane Doe, Amanda was …

HUNTING PHOTOS: 12-Year-Old Baldwin Girl Bags Nine-Point Buck

Ashley Toth's deer's antlers have an estimated 140-inch score and should end up in the state record book.

Father B.J. and daughter Ashley Toth, of Baldwin Borough, enjoyed a family hunting session in Elizabeth Township in early December, and Ashley, a 12-year-old gymnast and cheerleader, came away with the day's best prize when she dropped a nine-point buck. The deer's antlers have an estimated 18.5-inch spread and a full 140-inch "green" score. Ashley's deer is not a state record, but its size should still land it in the state record book. Upload your hunting photos to this article to share with the rest of Baldwin-Whitehall.  --- Follow the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch on Facebook and Twitter.

No greater love than this - A mother protect herself and the soul of the flesh and blood within her body from conception until a natural death. If the source I heard was correct there are 22 ABORTIONS in Allegheny County a day! Parents teach your children about …   more ›
