Mr. Fullerton, I commend you vehemently. Rather than play the proverbial “criminal lying game”, you admitted to recently drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. Good for you to recognize that your goose had been cooked (if I may be so bold). This reminds me of the time that Uncle Helix was so inebriated, we were able to make him admit that he wears lady pants. Haha…lol….never again did he drink …   more ›

AAA Warns Against DUI on New Year's Eve

The auto club has some sobering statistics for you to think about before drinking and driving.

If you plan to party on New Year's Eve, AAA has some sobering statistics for you to think about before drinking and driving. Compared to all other days in 2012, New Year's Day had the highest percentage of deaths that occurred in crashes with a driver who had a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher, according to AAA spokesperson Bevi Powell. AAA statistics show that 122 people were killed in crashes on New Year's Day 2012, and a little more than half of those crashes involved a drunk driver. "If you plan to drink, absolutely don't drive," Powell said. "If you plan to drink, make sure to bring a friend who can drive you home." Powell also cautioned against anyone getting into a car with a driver who has been drinking. If you're hosting a New…

ROAD RAGE UPDATE: Victims Did Not Want to Participate in Prosecution

The district attorney's office requested that the charges be withdrawn.

The withdrawal of several charges against a woman whom police say assaulted three people in a November road rage incident in Baldwin Township has raised some eyebrows. While it is typical for district magistrates to grant the withdrawal of charges based on a lack of evidence, it also often occurs that the victims and/or witnesses of crimes do not wish to participate in the accused's prosecution. Such was the case of Amanda Marie Petrelli, whom a Baldwin Township police officer drew his gun at on Nov. 13 after a traffic accident involving the Dormont Borough woman escalated into violence. According to Baldwin Township police Chief Terrence P. O'Brien, Petrelli, 29, of Tennessee Avenue, punched two other women in the face and ran her vehicle…

Barton decided on Tuesday. Barton withdrew Petrelli's charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, while her driving under the influence of alcohol charge was waived for Allegheny County Court, where she's scheduled to be formally arraigned on Feb. 6. (UPDATE: Petrelli will face her DUI charge at a pretrial conference at the…
