Probation?!? What about the rights of the car owner, what break did they get? Cleaning up and paying for the damage the would-be-thief made! Community service and restitution should have been ordered!! We law-abiding residents who PAY with our hard earned money for our vehicles and insurance deserve better! The police did their job, it's about time the magistrate does theirs!   more ›

Man Charged with Stealing Woman's Underwear, Socks in Whitehall

Jozo Grgic told a judge the story, police Deputy Chief Richard Danko said.

In a classic case of putting your foot in your mouth, Whitehall Borough police are charging Jozo Grgic, 52, of Whitehall, with theft, harassment and creating a false fire alarm after Grgic admitted to stealing a woman's underwear and socks in the Wallace (Prospect) Park area, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. While appearing as a defendant during a Jan. 16 summary trial related to a separate harassment case involving the same woman, Grgic, who lives at 1651 Skyline Dr., Apt. 24, said in front of District Magistrate David J. Barton that he pulled a fire alarm at 1651 Skyline on Dec. 24 so that people would leave that building in order for him to steal items that the woman had left in its laundry room, according to Danko. …

Disorderly conduct and terroristic threats charges have been filed.

Cornell Jaquay Brown, an 18-year-old student at Wesley Spectrum Highland Services in Whitehall Borough, has been charged with disorderly conduct and making terroristic threats from his actions at the school on Jan. 8, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. Danko said that Whitehall police officers responded to the Highland Services building at around 1:56 that afternoon to find the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Brown punching things and making threats to school staff members, damaging numerous pieces of school property in the process.  After about 45 minutes of police presence, Brown settled down, Danko said, and was placed on a bus to be sent home. Brown resides at 6943 Bennett St. in Pittsburgh's Homewood West neighborhood. He is …

ROAD RAGE UPDATE: Victims Did Not Want to Participate in Prosecution

The district attorney's office requested that the charges be withdrawn.

The withdrawal of several charges against a woman whom police say assaulted three people in a November road rage incident in Baldwin Township has raised some eyebrows. While it is typical for district magistrates to grant the withdrawal of charges based on a lack of evidence, it also often occurs that the victims and/or witnesses of crimes do not wish to participate in the accused's prosecution. Such was the case of Amanda Marie Petrelli, whom a Baldwin Township police officer drew his gun at on Nov. 13 after a traffic accident involving the Dormont Borough woman escalated into violence. According to Baldwin Township police Chief Terrence P. O'Brien, Petrelli, 29, of Tennessee Avenue, punched two other women in the face and ran her vehicle…

Assault, Drugs Charges Dropped in Baldwin Twp. Road Rage Case

District Judge Barton withdrew most of the charges on Tuesday.

ROAD RAGE UPDATE: Victims Did Not Want to Participate in Prosecution Amanda Marie Petrelli, whom Baldwin Township police say punched two other women in the face and ran her vehicle into a pedestrian in a November road-rage incident, will not face charges for those allegations, district Magistrate David J. Barton decided on Tuesday. Barton withdrew Petrelli's charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, while her driving under the influence of alcohol charge was waived for Allegheny County Court, where she's scheduled to be formally arraigned on Feb. 6. (UPDATE: Petrelli will face her DUI charge at a pretrial conference at the…

Teen Charged with Assault at Whitehall School

The 18-year-old is accused of attacking a secretary and a nurse.

Christopher James Verdoni, an 18-year-old student at Wesley Spectrum Highland Services in Whitehall Borough, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and making terroristic threats from his actions at the school on Thursday morning, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. Danko said that Whitehall police officers responded to the Highland Services building at around 11:10 that morning. Two of the school's staff members—a nurse and a secretary—told police that they were injured there while attempting to control Verdoni. The employees said that Verdoni punched one of them in the back of the head/neck area and threw the other against a wall, according to Danko. Verdoni, who lives at 900 Manor Dr. in Collier …

They will probably admit him back into the Baldwin-Whitehall School District, this seems to be the standard set in place.
