Baldwin Alum/Cleveland Brown Jason Pinkston Recovering from Scary Hospital Trip

The offensive lineman and former Highlander left his hospital on Wednesday morning.

Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Jason Pinkston, a 2006 Baldwin High School graduate and former Pittsburgh Panther, tweeted on Wednesday morning that he is leaving a Cleveland hospital where he was hospitalized for almost a week with blood clots in his lungs. Said Pinkston via Twitter on Wednesday, "Finally got my walking papers I'm outta here today!!!!!" According to an ESPN article by The Associated Press on Monday, "The 25-year-old was rushed to the Cleveland Clinic on Thursday with the life-threatening condition. He had been feeling poorly for most of last week and became ill during the previous Sunday's home game against Cincinnati." NFL Draft: Baldwin High Grad Jason Pinkston '06 Selected by Cleveland Browns in Fifth Round

Pinkston will compete for an NFL job as an offensive lineman after playing mostly defense during his days at Baldwin.

The Cleveland Browns traded away two sixth-round picks to the New York Giants to move up and select Baldwin High School alumnus Jason Pinkston '06 in the fifth round of the NFL's annual draft at Radio City Music Hall on Saturday. Pinkston played for fellow Baldwin alum Dave Wannstedt '70 at the University of Pittsburgh from 2006 to 2010 while Wannstedt was Pitt's head football coach. Wannstedt also played football at Baldwin and at Pitt. He is now an inside linebackers coach and assistant head coach with the Buffalo Bills. Pinkston is a 6-foot-4, 317-pound offensive lineman who played mostly defensive line at Baldwin High. He is projected at three different spots on an NFL offensive line: left guard, right guard and right tackle. The …
