Christopher Lyons faces sentencing in March.
A Brentwood Borough man pleaded guilty in federal court on Friday to a 2011 bank robbery at a Giant Eagle in Moon Township. Christopher Lyons, 32, admitted to robbing a Citizens Bank location within the supermarket of an undisclosed amount of cash on Nov. 6, 2011. Lyons is scheduled to face sentencing in U.S. District Court on March 25. During the robbery, Lyons passed a note to a bank teller that read, "This is a robbery ... I have a gun," according to court documents. The teller then handed Lyons a stack of cash that contained an exploding dye pack. UPDATE: Christopher Lyons had a pretrial conference at the Allegheny County Courthouse on July 20 to face the charges of prohibited use of a firearm, making terroristic threats and aggravated assault. He will now face a non-jury trial for those charges at the same location, beginning on Sept. 21. A Brentwood Borough man has been indicted on one count of bank robbery in connection with a November holdup in Moon Township. Following an investigation by Moon police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Christopher Lyons, 32, of 103 Beisner Ave., was charged in federal court on April 25 with robbing a Citizens Bank inside of a Moon Giant Eagle of $1,140. Man victimized a Citizens Bank branch inside of the supermarket.
WPXI is reporting that a man in his 30s, wearing all black clothes and a hat, robbed a Citizens Bank branch inside of the Brentwood Towne Square Giant Eagle late on Wednesday afternoon. The robbery happened at around 5:30 p.m., according to WPXI's report. Read that full report here. It is not known how much money was taken from the bank. Pittsburgh police arrested a Dormont Borough restaurant owner in connection with two local bank robberies. Captain Barnes, 37, of Dormont, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with robbing a PNC Bank branch on Brookline Boulevard on Monday. Barnes is a co-owner of Dormont Dogs. He also will be charged with robbing the Citizens Bank branch of a Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh's South Side area on Wednesday morning. According to a report by the Pittsburgh police, Barnes walked into the PNC Bank in Brookline at around 10:50 a.m. on Monday, told a teller that he was armed with a gun and demanded $10,000 in cash. Unfriendly Neighbor Two residents of an apartment in the 1600 block of Skyline Drive in the Wallace (Prospect) Park area were gone from their residence on Nov. 28 and 29, and when they returned at around 7:27 p.m. on Nov. 30, they discovered that someone had tampered with the entrance to their apartment. Whitehall Borough police officers reported to the scene shortly later to begin an investigation. Officers learned that many things were missing from the apartment, including gift cards, jewelry and some documents with personal information on them. Moon Township police have identified the man involved in an armed standoff on Sunday night in Brentwood Borough as the suspect in an armed robbery of the Citizens Bank branch in the Giant Eagle on Moon's University Boulevard earlier on Sunday. Authorities said that Christopher Lyons, 31, underwent surgery overnight at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh after he stabbed himself in the neck, wrist and leg during the standoff. Moon police said that the standoff began after they arrived with a warrant to search Lyons' home at 103 Beisner Ave. in Brentwood, just over the Whitehall Borough border, and that Lyons holed up inside the Beisner home after confronting officers with a gun and a knife.
