10-Year-Old Burglarizes Whitehall Apartment

10-Year-Old Burglar Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said that a 10-year-old boy is to blame for burglarizing an apartment in the 1600 block of Skyline Drive in Whitehall Borough's Wallace (Prospect) Park area. Police went to that residence at around 9:39 p.m. on Friday to find glass from a broken window on the apartment's floor and its tenant complaining that some Xbox gaming equipment had been stolen. Police investigated the theft in that immediate area, conducted interviews and determined that the 10-year-old, who lives on nearby Parkline Drive, was to blame. The stolen items were returned to their owner that same night, and because of the boy's age, Danko said, no juvenile allegations will be filed against him. Teen …

Wednesday's Powerball a Record $500 Million (or More) Jackpot

Where to buy a Powerball ticket in Baldwin-Whitehall and the odds of winning the jackpot.

The historic Powerball jackpot rose to a record $500 million on Tuesday, and many Baldwin-Whitehall residents are expected to purchase a ticket on Wednesday—if they haven't already. According to this Pennsylvania Lottery Web page, there are quite a few places to purchase a Powerball ticket in Baldwin-Whitehall. There has been no Powerball winner since Oct. 6. The chance of winning the $500 million jackpot is 1 in 175,223,510. The Powerball is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Ticket sales are cut off at least 59 minutes before the draw. Each ticket costs $2. Good luck. $3,300 in Gold Stolen in Whitehall

Better Lock Up On July 9 at around 1:25 p.m., Whitehall Place Apartments management from the Wallace (Prospect) Park area contacted Whitehall Borough police to report a burglary at an apartment at 1725 Skyline Dr. The Skyline resident said that he was victimized sometime between 11 a.m. on July 2 and 1 p.m. on July 9 while he was away on a camping trip. The victim told Whitehall police that all of his 14-karat gold necklaces—totaling $3,300 in value—were taken from his apartment, Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said. The victim used a key to re-enter his apartment on July 9, but he does not know if his door was actually locked. Police officers found no signs of forced entry to the apartment and no leads on potential suspects. They have …

7-Eleven Offers Free Slurpees Today—July 11

Every year, the store gives away the frozen treat to celebrate its birthday.

Oh, thank heaven for July 11—the magical day when 7-Eleven gives away Slurpees to celebrate its birthday. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, approximately 8,200 participating 7-Eleven stores across the United States will give away 7.11-ounce frozen drinks in honor of the chain's 85th birthday. Luckily for thirsty Baldwin-Whitehall residents, they won't have to go far to get a free cool treat. There is a 7-Eleven right in Whitehall Borough on Radford Road. Man Threatens Baldwin AD at Wrestling Tournament

Man Cited for Harassment After Run-in with Baldwin Athletics Director Charles Pritchard, 57, of 501 Leland Drive in Baldwin Borough, was forced to leave the WPIAL AAA Section 2 individual wrestling championships at Baldwin High School on Saturday after Baldwin High's Athletics Director Vince Sortino summoned Whitehall Borough police to the school to handle Pritchard. Sortino said that Pritchard was involved in a near-fight at the high school with another man and that he accosted Sortino himself, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko reported.
