I think ESPN site crashed! Can't get it to work
MPorchik June 26, 2014 at 01:01 pm
Try watching in on the ESPN app on your phone if you can. I have it on now, halftime.

“This fits the stereotype of Philadelphia fans as aggressive, demanding fans that are willingRead More to cheer injuries and boo Santa,” For the love of pete, hasn't the statute of limitations run out on the booing Santa thing. I am 43, and this did not occur in my lifetime, please stop bringing it up every time you want to demonstrate that Philly fans are bad people. I'm willing to bet the writer knows nothing about why Santa was booed.
Phillyboy June 16, 2014 at 08:48 am
The study doesnt measure passion and knowledge which is a more accurate statement about PhilliesRead More fans. Fans Boo when their Teams or certain players are not giving 100% effort. Regarding the "Throwing snowballs at Santa story" Truth be told. That Santa Claus was a Living " Bad Santa ". He was an alcoholic acting lewdly at the game. Fans were calling him out for his bad behaviour and others pelted him with snowballs for acting like an ass. I met Bad Santas son at a Phillies game several years ago who told me his Father was a drunk and deserved the public flogging that he received. I hope this report gets back to the National Media but that will never happen. I have been too many sporting events in other cities and have seen many indiscretions committed by their fans...Cursing, intimidating or starting fights with fans rooting for the opposition, public drunkeness, throwing stuff on the field. There is no better city in this country to attend a game than Philadelphia with its knowledable, passionate fans.

Boy, I'd really like to slug the guy who came up with this..... (Seriously though, for $189M, ifRead More you had a team that can't beat the Cubs in a series --- or anybody else for that matter --- wouldn't *you* be a little "aggressive and demanding?")

Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 07:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

Wow, what an unexpected pick. He might turn out to be a good player, but even he was surprised toRead More have been drafted in the first round.
Francis Kilinsky May 9, 2014 at 12:21 pm
First off, it's not our team. For those of us who live in Allegheny County the local team is theRead More Pittsburgh Stealers and the Pittsburgh Stealers is the Rooney family's team. Even though the taxpayers in Allegheny County are picking up much of the cost of Heinz Field they have no say in the management of the team and are reaping no financial rewards if the team does well. The Rooneys make the managerial decisions and are richly rewarded finacially because the nim-wits in Pittsburgh will pay big bucks for seat licenses at Heinz Field and exorbitant amounts for tickets to watch the Stealers engage in the brutal game of football! Talk about cults - I wonder what kind of kool aid the Stealer Nation is drinking!
Kathy Pattak April 7, 2014 at 12:32 pm
Why are we getting Philly news on a Pgh community site.? What hapened to local coverage?. That isRead More what made Patch such a unique useable site.
PS April 7, 2014 at 04:13 pm
Something must be linked wrong with this story because your Pittsburgh comments are showing up onRead More our Philly suburb patch...
Mike Jones April 7, 2014 at 04:50 pm
There's nothing wrong. This is the new delocalized Patch. They've cross-published this story to allRead More websites in Pennsylvania. That's why you're seeing everyone's comments. For some reason, the people in New York City think we Pittsburghers give a hoot about the Phillies getting rained out.
It's our national pastime. Should it be a national holiday, too? (Patch file photo)
Diane Berl April 1, 2014 at 03:03 pm
No holiday!!!! Our children already score lower than other countries in education. They don't needRead More anothe lame excuse to miss school.
Andrew April 1, 2014 at 04:53 pm
Baseball isn't the national pastime anymore. So no, no holiday.
Roger Jurczak April 1, 2014 at 08:05 pm

Forget the time - the kid played high school basketball, which was against the rules. He took theRead More opportunity to win 10K from someone else and gets rewarded for it. Lame.
Gina TB February 20, 2014 at 11:24 pm
If he had to make the shots on the 1st try then why did they allow him the 2nd shot? after heRead More missed the 1st half court shot that should have been the end. Publicity shot or not i commend Pizza Hut for stepping up to award him the $10k. I hope that Jack uses that money and pays if forward some day.
ron February 21, 2014 at 02:17 pm
They did not let him take a second shot. The ball just took a bounce right back to him so he quickRead More threw up a second shot. The bottom line was he lost and that should have been the end of it. There should have been no whining or complaining. Maybe Pizza Hut should give 10K to all the prior contestants whom lost but at least followd the rules and did not complain.
