ne12, first, we were not greeted. We stood there at the end of the bar by the entrance to the dining room waiting and waiting. The miserable red head seated others who came in (after us) before us. When we said something she just gave us the look and a sigh. No explanation, no apology. I could not believe how rude she was. Even on previous visits it was not a friendly place. That was just the last straw.
Thee Olde Place Inn
412-885-1395
In the Baker Building on Streets Run Road, next to The Suntan Shack, Thee Olde Place is low on pretension but high on the quality of its food. There are always two soups during lunch and there is an assortment of excellent sandwiches and pasta dishes. The Inn also has a jukebox and cigarette machine.

RogerOverandout,
I've probably been there 60 or 70 times over the years, and never had any rudeness experienced. Perhaps you could share exactly what this rudeness was? Just curious.
Ne12U and Pappy, we are easy to please. We would like to go there because they are so convenient. We have been there probably 6 or 7 times. The last 3 they were just flat out rude.
Pappy, I know what you mean. Been a customer there on and off for years, and I think you nailed it. Some people come in with an attitude, and nothing would please them. The food is very good quality, and the place has always been clean, as you said.
I have been to this reasturant two times for lunch ,in the past two weeks. I dont know if these other people have an attitude or something. This place have very good high quality food ,table linens were clean, waitresses that I had were plesant and upbeat. Im a clean freak , the bathrooms spotless and smelled clean.
The food is good and moderately priced. In addition to having a cigarette machine and a jukebox it also has indoor plumbing and a TV, why go anywhere else?
Went there multiple times good food, terrible service and attitudes. I will never go back.
This place was a disappointment when 2 hours after eating there you at the emergency room thinking your having a heart attack. Before my daughter-in-law ordered she asked if they used MSG on the beef and the waitress went and asked in the kitchen if they said NO, she is highly allergic. Needless to say that the cook had no clue that Allspice was MSG and put her in the hospital for 2 day.
Trying to patronize local business instead of national chains I bought 100 dollars in gift cards for The Olde Place and received 25 additional dollars free as their sign on Streets Run Said. We along with many other people made a reservation and went to for dinner since it is close by, locally owned and to keep a small guy in business. The food and service was great but did I get acid reflux when we paid the bill!! "The waitress said we cannot accept your gift cards tonight? She said they are not accepted on holidays read the back. Many people have gotten burnt by it tonight." They advertise as holiday cards but never tell you when you buy nor is there any mention except on the back of the card after you get it that you will not be able to use it on a holiday. So in essence me and many others last night got screwed at The Olde Place one last time for 2012. I had to pay for our large dinner and now I am stuck with gift cards that I will have to go back to use again. So their sign should say "get 25 dollars extra when you buy 100 dollars in holiday gift cards but you are really getting double dipped because you cant use them on a holiday. You won last night Olde Place. I will win in the end when I share your deceptive practices with everyone that I know. Happy New Year "local establishment!" See you all at Bonefish Grill next New Years Eve. They take their gift cards every day.
As Roseann said in her first review here, this place does not disappoint.
Now we're talking BURGERS,. so once again TheeOlde Place does not disappoint.
In fact, going back years and years to even the 1970s (maybe before?), folks came from near and far for the delicious burgers at The Office Lounge (now Thee Olde Place).
We're talking meal sized burger here, with fries. Like the other menu items at Thee Olde Place, you get quality ingredients, prepared to please.
Next time you want a really good burger, this is the place to be.

Hey Roger, Be courteous and dont give a reasturant a poor rating over being seated. I believe you must not doing something right. As you enter you do go past the bar area ,and proceed to the left. There is no Matradee. Your in a bar, and just happen to have very good food. A pleasant smile and communication, works for me everytime. They are not servants to please you. But, We are (my family) familiar with the waitress your talking about.
