Baldwin-Whitehall/West Jefferson Hills Girl Scouts Donate Cookies to Soldiers

Operation Troop Appreciation accepted the scouts' cookies at Century III Mall on Saturday.

Girl Scouts from the  and West Jefferson Hills areas descended on Century III Mall in West Mifflin Borough on Saturday with several hundred boxes of cookies to be donated to U.S. military troops.

Girls of all ranks—from Daisies to Brownies, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors—were at the event.

Every year during girl scout cookie sales, scouts sell boxes under a Gift of Caring category, meaning that customers donate a purchased box to those scouts' cause.

Each scout group decides, at the beginning of their sales, which organization(s) that the donated boxes will be given to, and many groups—like Baldwin-Whitehall's and West Jefferson Hills'—choose to donate cookies to active military members.

Operation Troop Appreciation, an organization founded in 2004 to deliver donations to military personnel, accepted the scout's cookies on Saturday and will take them to U.S. soldiers.
