PHOTOS: 2012 Whitehall Community Day

The theme this year was marked by a number of live music performances at both venues, including one by tribute band Bon Journey.

Whitehall Borough will welcome folks from around Pittsburgh's South Hills area on Saturday, Aug. 25, for the newest version of Whitehall Community Day—"Rockin' Through the Ages."

As is the case each year, the day's festivities will be split between  along Southvue Drive and the (part of the along Borough Park Drive).

The "Rockin'" theme this year will be marked by a number of live music/dancing performances at both venues, including bands specializing in tunes from the 1940s through today.

In addition to music, the day will also see the borough's , airbrushed tattoos, kids games, community awards, vendor booths (including food) and much, much more.

A free shuttle will transport Community Day attendants to Snyder Park and to the Brennan Plaza from noon to 5 p.m. from the following locations (and vice versa): First Commonwealth Banking on Route 51 and  and , both on Maxwell Drive.

A free shuttle from the Brennan Plaza will allow people to tour the new station along Route 51 from noon to 4 p.m.

Here is this year's schedule (by venue):

SNYDER PARK

8-9 a.m.: Race/walk registration ( for details.)

9:15 a.m.: Race/walk

10 a.m.: Race awards and Citizen of the Year Award

Noon: Performance from

12:45 p.m.: Performance from competitive cheerleading team

1 p.m.: Performance from Accent Music & School of Performing Arts

2 p.m.: Performance from

3 p.m.: Performance from

(A children's center will be available throughout the day at Snyder Park, which includes "The Ultimate Gaming Trailer," a 50-foot trailer filled with video games.)

BRENNAN PLAZA

11:30 a.m.: Performance from Baldwin High marching band

Noon: Introduction of borough officials in attendance

Also noon: Big band (1940s music)

12:30 p.m.: Performance from The Nowhere Men (The Beatles tribute)

1:45 p.m.: Performance from Dancing Queen (1970s disco music)

2:45 p.m.: 

3 p.m.: Performance from Bon Journey (1980s rock music)

4:30 p.m.: Performance from Night Life (musical review)

(Food and information booths, as well as raffles, will be available throughout the day at the Brennan Plaza. Look for the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch booth!)
