The Gators' eighth-grader leads the Pittsburgh Diocese's South squad to a championship.

's varsity boys basketball team might have bowed out of the 2011 Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh's championships earlier than it would have liked, but the Gators' best player still had a chance to lead a team to a title this year.

Adam Ottaviano, St. Gabriel's dominating center-forward, was one of a select group of players chosen from around the area this year to compete in the 33rd Annual Pittsburgh Diocesan Junior Roundball All-Star Classic, held at Seton-La Salle Catholic High School from March 25-27.

Adam, an impressive, 6-foot, 177-pound eighth-grader, was assigned to the tournament's South team, which eventually won the Roundball championship. Adam was one of just five players chosen to be on the all-tournament team. He also walked with deserved MVP honors after averaging approximately 18 points and 15 rebounds per game during the tourney.
