Baldwin Athletics Director Responds to Hiring of New Girls Basketball Coach

Athletics Director Vince Sortino had glowing words to say about the recent as 's head varsity girls basketball coach.

Prosser inherits the program from Dan Thayer, who was removed as head coach by the Baldwin-Whitehall School Board in June .

"Gavin is a graduate of Baldwin High School, was a great player at Baldwin and continued with a great playing career in college," Sortino said on Tuesday in reference to Prosser's all-WPIAL selection at Baldwin and honorable mention All-America honor at Point Park University. "As an assistant coach at Point Park for the men's team, Head Coach Bob Rager raved about his abilities as an assistant coach and knows that he will be a great head coach.

"Gavin bleeds purple and white and will be a great addition to our basketball program."

Baldwin's varsity girls have compiled an average record of 18-7 in the past four seasons, including three consecutive WPIAL playoffs appearances, a WPIAL championship game berth and two state playoffs trips.
