WATCH: Entertaining 'Lunch Lady' Lauds B-W Admins for Good Manners

Debbie Simeone recognized some current and some soon-to-be departing employees.

Wearing an "always be nice to the lunch lady" T-shirt, Debbie Simeone, a well-liked and retired cafeteria worker from the , presented the latest of her "Debbie Simeone Good Manners" awards at a B-W School Board meeting on Wednesday night.

Simeone, who has worked at all five district schools, usually hands out her awards to students for remembering to say "please" and "thank you" to cafeteria workers, but she used public comments time at Wednesday's board meeting to thank—and embrace—a number of district employees for their time in Baldwin-Whitehall.

Simeone started her ceremony by recognizing Superintendent Dr. Lawrence C. Korchnak for his years of employment in the district. Korchnak is retiring on June 30. She also recognized Assistant Superintendents Dr. John D. Wilkinson and Dr. Randal A. Lutz, both of whom will accept new roles in public education on July 1. Wilkinson is leaving Baldwin-Whitehall to become the head superintendent of the Belle Vernon Area School District, and Lutz is being promoted to fill Korchnak's position.

Simeone also wished to present one of her awards to Tammy Caponi, who will become B-W's newest food service director on July 1, but Caponi was absent on Wednesday.

Simeone moved on to thanking President John B. Schmotzer and his fellow B-W School Board members for volunteering their time to lead the district.

And finally, she recognized board secretary Mary Ann Kraus for her years of employment in the district, as well.
