Former Baldwin-Whitehall Bus Driver Will Have Jury Trial for Child Sex Charges

William Scherz, 73, is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

William Scherz, 73, of Brentwood Borough, is scheduled to have a jury trial starting on Aug. 21, according to a criminal docket sheet.

Scherz was a Baldwin-Whitehall School District bus driver when he was accused in January of driving to Elizabeth Township to have sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Scherz was taken to the Allegheny County Jail on charges of corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statutory sexual assault, among others. He eventually made bail, though, was released and is not currently in jail, according to the docket sheet.

B-W School District Superintendent Dr. Randal A. Lutz told Patch in May that Scherz is on unpaid leave from the district pending the outcome of the legal process.
