Brooks Recognized by B-W School Board, BHS Musical Next Week

The school board recognized senior Maggie Brooks for her accomplishment winning the Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest. They also reminded guests about the upcoming school musical.

The Baldwin-Whitehall School Board on Wednesday recognized senior Maggie Brooks for her recent win in Pittsburgh Public Theater’s 19th Annual Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest.

Brooks was presented with a certificate.

Superintendent Randal Lutz said students from Baldwin-Whitehall have competed in the theater’s contest before, but that Brooks is the first winner from the district.

Lutz, as well as several school board members, also announced a reminder that this year’s high school musical, “Hairspray,” begins next week.

The musical opens on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, and are free for those age 62 and older.

The show will also run April 17 to 20. Tickets are $10. On April 18, district students can attend the show for a discounted rate of $8.
