Whitehall Woman on Lobbyists, Israel, Iran

Cornelia Smollin writes in Wednesday's Post-Gazette.

It is important that the United States sends a message to Israel that it will not help with an attack on Iran, says Cornelia Smollin, a resident, in a Feb. 29 letter to the editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"I have sent a letter to the (U.S.) president urging him to assure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of that very position," Smollin writes. "I thought this situation deserved an emphatic comment, as there are those who would have us be drawn into a situation 'to defend Israel.'

"This includes the 'hawks' on the Hill (lobbyists) as well as the companies that stand to make profits from such an engagement."
