Whitehall Council Incumbents React to Re-Election

Democrats Lahr and Berkoben happy to have Republican McKown back, as well.

Incumbents Philip Lahr, Harold Berkoben and Robert McKown on Tuesday to remain as councilmen.

Lahr and Berkoben ran together as Democrats on Election Day and made it clear that McKown, a Republican, was their choice for the third person to be elected over Republicans James A. DeGrazia and Chris A. Mooney and even fellow Democrat Helen Del Sardo.

"Bob and Harold and I would, seriously, like to thank the residents that came out and voted and voted especially for us," Lahr said on Wednesday, "so that we can keep the community sound and strong as we have for the last 12 years.

"We appreciate that, and that's the message that we wanted to get out to them (Whitehall residents). And they came, and they listened. And they know what they want. And we listen to them intently.

"So we thank them, and we're happy."

Added Berkoben, also on Wednesday, "I'm gratified that the voters saw fit to return the three incumbents to office. I think the present council (members) work very well together and have had a lot of accomplishments within Whitehall in our tenure over the last several years.

" ... I think it adds to the stability (that we have), and I think we all do a good job for Whitehall."

McKown issued the following statement on Wednesday:

"I'd like to thank the residents of Whitehall Borough for another four years representing them as their councilman.

"I will continue to work hard, along with the other council members, to maintain Whitehall Borough and the services we provide to our residents."
