Streets Run-Brownsville Intersection to Be Refurbished

The troubled intersection will not be redesigned, however.

Though he says that he has trouble hearing Whitehall council members, those members have heard Raymond Meenan loud and clear—at least when it comes to the intersection of Brownsville and Streets Run roads.


Whitehall Borough officials have heard back from Allegheny County Department of Public Works officials, who oversee that intersection, and county crews will be repainting it sometime in the next 30 days, as well as reinstalling road signs, according to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

For some time, Whitehall Mayor James F. Nowalk had been sharing Meenan's concerns with county officials that the intersection is dangerous to motorists and pedestrians because drivers are unsure of which lane is theirs. Read more here.

According to the Tribune-Review, Whitehall police have notified county officials 22 times that directional signs at the intersection were damaged or missing.

Although the county Department of Public Works will refurbish the intersection in an attempt to make it safer, it will not be fully redesigned, the newspaper states.
