Reps. Maher, Costa Honor Local Public Television Icon

Bethel Park native Rick Sebak is honored.

Rep. John Maher, a Republican from Allegheny and Washington counties, and Rep. Paul Costa, an Allegheny Democrat, were the lead sponsors of a recent Pennsylvania House of Representatives resolution honoring Bethel Park native and public television icon Rick Sebak.

Sebak, who is the acknowledged creator of the "scrapbook documentary" genre, has earned national acclaim and local viewers with dozens of WQED documentaries about interesting subjects, including Kennywood Days and "Things That Aren't There Anymore."

Sebak grew up in Pittsburgh's South Hills area and graduated from Bethel Park High School. His mother, Peggy, served on the Bethel Park School Board for most of the 1990s.
