Mayor James F. Nowalk said at a Whitehall Borough meeting on Wednesday night that a "vast majority of motorists are abiding by the speed limit" on Whitehall's Spring Valley Drive, Brownsville Road, Doyle Road and Oakridge Drive, as evidenced by speeding detectors placed on those roads by the .
"We do have speeders at times," Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said, "but the vast majority of traffic—well over 70 percent of the traffic—is really well within the speed limit."

Dolfi said that, even when the speeding detectors set up on those roads are not displaying readings to motorists, they are still collecting data, which Nowalk said helps assure that the detectors are painting an accurate picture of traffic speed.
Trees
As per its pending involvement in an -sponsored with neighboring and Brentwood boroughs, the Whitehall Council agreed unanimously on Wednesday to accept Nowalk's recommendation that trees—if and when they arrive—be planted in the Steeplechase community off of Weyman Road, in the off of Provost Road and in near Southvue Drive.
Earth Day
Whitehall Borough will observe Earth Day on Saturday, April 21, Nowalk said.
Highland Park Soccer Field Closed
Whitehall Borough Manager James E. Leventry said that the soccer field at —near on Girard Road—will have to remain closed until Tuesday, May 15, to allow for re-sodding.
LEARN Bus Movie Screening
The will host a public screening in the Whitehall Community Room on Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. of a mini-documentary featuring the library's program, Councilwoman Linda J. Book said.
The Community Room sits adjacent to the library in Whitehall's municipal complex along Borough Park Drive.
