Downey, Pellegrino React to Being Re-Elected in Baldwin Township

Both men will govern with newcomer Susan Snyder.

Pellegrino, a Republican, also spoke to the B-W Patch on Tuesday, and Downey, a Democrat, issued a statement on Wednesday.

"I'm happy that I won," Pellegrino said, "and happy to see that Bob Downey was re-elected.

"To be honest ... I don't know a whole lot about Sue Snyder. I've met her a few times. She seems to be a nice lady.

"I've known (fourth candidate and Republican) Gary Moeller for a number of years. I'm sure he's disappointed ... 

"I'm just glad to continue what I'm doing, and I'm glad that Bob's back again for another four years. I think we work well together. I think the board, as a whole, works well together.

"I'll welcome Sue, and we'll start moving forward."

Downey issued the following statement:

"I deeply appreciate that the residents of our community showed faith in the work that I've done in the past two and one-half years as a member of the Board of Commissioners.

"It is truly a privilege to have been elected to serve our community, and hopefully, I can make our community stronger and keep it as a vibrant place to live and begin a family.

"I believe we have a strong board of commissioners, and with the addition of Sue Snyder, we will continue the good work that has taken place in the past.

"I would like to thank all of the other candidates for their commitment and dedication to the community and congratulate each of them for running a highly respectable campaign. All of the candidates had the best interests of Baldwin Township in mind, and I commend them for their integrity and spirit."
