Arlen Specter Dies at 82
The former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania died on Sunday morning, according to several sources.
Former U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter died Sunday morning due to complications from non-Hodgkin lymphoma, according to reports from numerous news agencies. Specter was 82.
He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1980 and served for 30 years, which is longer than any other Pennsylvania senator. He lost his seat in 2010 after switching from the Republican to the Democratic party.
Specter suffered a number of illnesses over the past two decades.
