Allegheny County Prepares for Reassessment Challenges

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald increases staffing. Also, phone lines are doubled, and email review confirmation is under development.

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald has increased staffing for the county Office of Property Assessments so that more lines are available for callers to request informal hearings in response to the reassessments that were mailed to property owners last week.

Fifteen staff people have been designated to take calls and to schedule informal reviews. A total of 40 lines are now available for callers. Callers may still experience busy signals if all 40 lines are utilized.

The county has also requested that the number of lines available be doubled to 80 and expects that that will be accomplished within the next day. The phone number to schedule an appeal is 412-350-4600. Staff is available from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
