Absentee Ballot Application Deadline Is Nov. 1 for Upcoming Elections

Ballots can be obtained in person, online or by phone or mail.

Allegheny County residents who need an absentee ballot for upcoming Nov. 8 elections must apply before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Absentee ballots are available to registered voters who will be absent from their respective municipalities on Nov. 8 or to those who cannot reach the polls due to an illness or physical disability.

Absentee ballot applications may be requested through the mail or in person at the Allegheny County Division of Elections, 601 County Office Building, 542 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Eligible voters may also obtain an application by calling 412-350-4520 or by visiting www.votespa.com.

Registered voters are encouraged to request their absentee ballot applications as soon as possible. Applications must be completed and returned to the elections division by no later than 5 p.m. on Nov. 1. An absentee ballot will then be mailed to the applicant.

The voted absentee ballot must then be returned to the elections division by no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4.

For the quickest results, the county elections division recommends applying in person, which officials said only takes a few minutes if the voter is properly registered. The applicant can then vote on the spot and turn in his or her ballot.
