Absentee Ballot Application Deadline for Upcoming Primaries Is May 10

Allegheny County residents should request absentee ballots as soon as possible.

Allegheny County's deadline for requesting absentee ballots is fast approaching.

If a county resident will be absent from his or her municipality during the May 17 primary elections, he or she must apply for an absentee ballot before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10.

Absentee ballots also are available to those who can't vote in person due to illness or physical disability.

Absentee ballot applications may be requested through the mail or in person at the Allegheny County Division of Elections, 601 County Office Building, 542 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15219. You could also call 412-350-4520 or visit www.votespa.com.

If you do not apply in person, the ballot would be mailed to you after your application is processed.

For the quickest results, the county elections division recommends applying in person, which officials said only takes a few minutes if the voter is properly registered. The applicant can then vote on the spot and turn in his or her ballot.

The elections division is requesting that voters apply for absentee ballots as soon as possible.

Absentee ballots must be returned to the elections division by no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 13.
