William Murphy III Charged with Burglary, Other Offenses

Murphy was detained by police on Blossom Drive on Friday.

Officers from multiple police departments detained William Joseph Murphy III at a Blossom Drive home on Friday as part of a burglary investigation in the south Baldwin Borough area, according to Baldwin police Chief Michael Scott.

Upon questioning, Allegheny County police brought charges against Murphy of one count each of burglary, criminal trespassing and the illegal sale or transfer of firearms, and two counts of receiving stolen property, according to an online court document.

Murphy turns 28 on Monday.

Police entered 620 Blossom after Murphy's mother, the homeowner, granted permission to do so.

Eyewitness accounts show at least the Baldwin Borough, Bethel Park, Pleasant HillsBrentwood Borough and Whitehall police departments on Blossom at the time of Murphy's detainment—approximately 5:21 p.m.

Murphy is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at District Magistrate John N. Bova's Wallace Building office on Tuesday at 1 p.m. (UPDATE: continued to Jan. 29 at 1 p.m.).
