Officers from multiple police departments detained William Joseph Murphy III at a Blossom Drive home on Friday as part of a burglary investigation in the south Baldwin Borough area, according to Baldwin police Chief Michael Scott.

Is there any information on whether he's responsible for any or all of the recent break-ins?
Robert Edward Healy, III January 07, 2013 at 04:03 PM
We'll stay on top of that, Lyn, but for now, no.
Nicole January 07, 2013 at 04:40 PM
Is he in jail or has he been released?
Robert Edward Healy, III January 07, 2013 at 04:41 PM
Nicole, I inadvertently deleted your question. According to an online docket sheet, Murphy's confinement in the Allegheny County Jail ended on Jan. 6.

Keeps us informed. I'm sure the people around Baldwin are not going to be happy to hear that.
Just Me :) January 07, 2013 at 05:17 PM
No we are NOT happy about this...nor are we able to sleep at night knowing he is out of jail...and there is a weapons charge...come on we are supposed to feel safe. It will go to the magestrate tomorrow then will be waived for court in town - so he will be out until the hearing and we all know there will be one postponement after another
Bill Antantis January 07, 2013 at 05:22 PM

Maybe a policeman can answer this, I am sure there are a few one here - What the hell does someone have to do to go to jail in this county?

Exactly my point previously....and there is a postponement before even being waived to town. How do we sleep and feel safe when we have children in this neighborhood and there was a weapons charge. I called Baldwin Police Department to ask for extra patrolling in the neighborhood and have not heard back from them...he has done this stuff in the daylight!!!!!!!!!!!
Nicole January 07, 2013 at 08:40 PM
Fantastic. Any chance he's under house arrest
Robert Edward Healy, III January 07, 2013 at 08:51 PM
Nicole, I do not know.

No house arrest free bird. Its funny leave it to Baldwin residence to kick a man when hes down what he needs is help no criticism. We cant just shoot him and be done with it and if thats hiw u think u r more of a criminal than he is. His bail was 250 dollars this is a joke of a case check out the cases that the city court heres everyday ud never leave ure houses. Baldwins like 15 mins away from the city . Residence need to relax its not like he was al capone

The man is 28 yrs old not 58. He is making his own choices in a part of PA where he could do quite well if he's willing to work for it. Other parts of the country that man would not be be walking out alive of random houses if he didn't belong in there. Luckily it's a bunch of good- hearted softies around here. And the city is what it is, the jungle not the suburbs. Maybe that's where he belongs. Make a decent mortgage payment on your own kingdom and see how you'd feel if there was someone burglarizing it. Heck, leave a key under the mat for them.

What he needs is help not criticism??? Who is going to help all of the people who had their possessions and hard earned money stolen from them? Who is going to help the people in the neighborhood who are traumatized and living in fear that a felon is able to walk their streets? All the people want is this nightmare to go away. If they help will they get their valuables back? If they help can they sleep at night in peace. We all as citizens have the right to life, liberty, and property. It's unfortunate that it is the innocent victims in this neighborhood have had these rights compromised. Your right, we need to make sure that we do help. Let's help the right people here!

A reminder, folks, that Murphy is only being charged with one count of burglary and that he has not been found guilty of that charge.
MKC January 09, 2013 at 08:02 PM
Have they caught the other person of interest? And what would the world be like if we all thought it was ok to rob each other?? I am tired of of enabling low life's. We all have problems - go get help not help yourself to other's property.
Robert Edward Healy, III January 09, 2013 at 09:46 PM
I have not heard of any other recent burglary charges, MKC.

Is The William Murphy III arrested in Baldwin in January 2013 a different William Murphy III that was arrested in Bethel Park In October of 2013 and awaiting formal arraignment scheduled for 2/22/2013. amazing if it is.
Robert Edward Healy, III January 18, 2013 at 08:55 PM
I think that you mean "October 2012." If so, the middle name is different, but it is a known alias. And the birthdate is the same.
1043 January 18, 2013 at 09:12 PM
oops 2012 William Joseph Murphy III William Jose Murphy III Both born 1-7-85 Whats the odds of that being 2 different people burglarizing 2 communities that close together?
Robert Edward Healy, III January 18, 2013 at 09:24 PM
The docket sheets that I am reading recognize "William Joseph Murphy III" as an alias for "William Jose Murphy III."
1043 January 18, 2013 at 09:52 PM
Yeah thats what I'm seeing. I think that the Police departments or the Boroughs themselfs should make more of an effort to keep residents informed of crime in their neighborhoods. Not sure how, but there has to be away.
