Whitehall Police Report Items Taken from Just Outside Homes

Neither of the items were intended to be garbage.

Whitehall Borough police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said that, since last Thursday, a couple of items have been stolen from just outside of residents' homes.

On Monday at around 1 p.m., a resident from the 800 block of Jill Drive contacted police to report that, sometime overnight, someone stole a decorative pit bull statue. The statue stands about 2 feet high.

And on May 23 at around 11:20 a.m., a resident from the 4800 block of Rolling Hills Road called police to report that a stainless steel double sink had been stolen.

The resident was in the process of remodeling a Rolling Hills house and had removed countertops and the sink from it and set it outside at around 5 p.m. the day before, Chief Dolfi said. When the resident returned the next day at around 7 a.m., the countertops had been damaged, and the sink was gone.

"Speculative on my part," Dolfi said, "even though it's illegal, there may have been some people that go around junk-hunting and thought that they were throwing this away.

"We have an ordinance (in Whitehall): You can't go around scavenging."
