Whitehall Borough Police Briefs (June 14-20)

Attempted break-in, disorderly conduct and a bad debit card.

Attempted Break-In at Prospect Park Ball Field

On June 15 at approximately 9 a.m., a representative of South Hills Interfaith Ministries contacted the to report an attempted break-in at .

The representative said that a hasp on one of the storage bins that SHIM uses near a ball field there to run a summer recreational program was damaged.

After the  police and SHIM representative determined that nothing was missing from the bin, police officers used an opportunity to inform approximately 50 children at the scene about the crime of stealing and when and how to contact police when you think someone is committing the crime.

"We coupled a potential crime with some community service," Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said.

Disorderly Conduct

On June 17 at approximately 11:01 a.m., Whitehall police responded to a call at the parking lot about a disturbance there.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a male and a female engaged in a loud and animated conversation, Dolfi said.

Officers talked to both of the adults and advised them to leave the parking lot, which they did. At approximately 11:30 a.m., though, police were called to the nearby  parking lot about the same two people.

As such, police cited both Leroy Stillwagon, 41, of 222 Columbia Drive in Pleasant Hills Borough, and Erica Curley, 27, of 5111 Cherryvale Drive in Whitehall, with disorderly conduct. (UPDATE: Both Stillwagon and Curley were .)

Bad Card at Safelite Auto Glass

On June 17 at approximately 11:50 a.m, a representative from on Route 51 informed Whitehall police that Safelite is still seeking $229 from a customer who had a window on his vehicle replaced on June 9.

According to the Safelite representative, the customer tried to pay for the window replacement with a prepaid debit card, but the card was declined due to insufficient funds.

The customer told Safelite that he would add funds to the prepaid card, Dolfi said, but the funds were never added.

Safelite was not able to track down the customer, but Whitehall police have tracked him down and are investigating the incident.

The customer is from the Munhall Borough area.
