Whitehall Borough Police Briefs (Jan. 10-23)

Whitehall officers twice report to same place on Maple Drive, and five other police items.

Quite a Week for Eugenio

police officers encountered a male sleeping in his vehicle in front of 1481 Maple Drive in Whitehall's  area at around 12:08 a.m. on Jan. 17.

Upon interacting with the male—Eugenio Pratts, 21, of Apt. 4 of that address—the officers reported detecting the odor of burnt marijuana. They then reported discovering a small amount of marijuana in Pratt's possession and cited him for that offense.

Then, on Jan. 23 at around 2:54 p.m., Pratts called to report that someone had thrown a brick through his bathroom window earlier that day and stole his XBox 360.

Whitehall officers contacted the Allegheny County Crime Lab upon discovering blood on the remainder of the bathroom window and footprints in the area.

The XBox was valued at $199.99. A set of headphones with an unknown value was also taken.

Police have identified a suspect in the burglary, and footprints are being analyzed to determine if they match that suspect's shoes.

Outstanding Warrants

A Whitehall police officer on patrol encountered two males walking in the 1000 block of Prospect Road at around 12:57 a.m. on Jan. 18.

While talking with the males, the officer discovered that one of them—Mario Juan Coates, 31, of 205 Orchard Drive in Penn Hills, PA—had an oustanding warrant from Plum Borough on charges of theft, simple assault and harassment.

Coates was taken into custody and eventually released to a constable.

On Jan. 23 at around 5:22 p.m., Whitehall officers went to the cul-de-sac on Villaview Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle there.

Upon interacting with the driver of the vehicle—Shane Dubart, 25, of 2730 Banksville Ave. in Pittsburgh's Banksville neighborhood—police discovered that Dubart was wanted on two child support warrants. He was taken into custody before being turned over to the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office.

Theft of Package

A resident of the 1700 block of Skyline Drive in the Prospect Park area contacted the Whitehall police on Jan. 19 to report that a Kindle ordered from Amazon.com was taken while still in its packaging after being delivered to that resident's address.

The resident contacted Amazon, which is replacing the Kindle.

Vandalism on Grove Road

A motorist heading south down Grove Road toward at around 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 22 reported that a white male—approximately 6 feet tall and very thin, with salt-and-pepper hair, dark blue jeans and a long, brown coat—threw a water bottle at the side of her car, causing damage.

Whitehall police officers have been unable to locate a suspect, but the incident is under investigation.

That's a Lot of Movie Tickets (ID Theft)

A woman from New York City who is temporarily living with her father at the along Weyman Road contacted the Whitehall police on Jan. 19 to report that someone had made seven unauthorized purchases with her credit account on Fandango.com.

The transactions—all made on Jan. 13—total $231.50.

The woman's credit card company is handling the investigation.
