Update on Charlotte Drive Gun Encounter

McKeesport man arrested.

Authorities from the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office arrested Robert Becoate, 21, of Soles Street in McKeesport, on Saturday on a warrant issued by the Police Department.

Becoate is the one whom police believe in south Baldwin on June 3, Chief Michael Scott said.

Baldwin police came to the 400 block of Charlotte at around 11 p.m. on June 3 to find the victim, who said that a man known to his son had entered his home and demanded money at gunpoint related to a possible drug deal.

The son had arrived at the Charlotte home accompanied by the gunman, but the gunman did not reveal his weapon until the son and father refused to cooperate with him.

The father went upstairs after hearing a commotion in the son's bedroom, and that is when the gun was drawn and aimed at the father.

When the gun was drawn, the son jumped out of an open window at the Charlotte home and ran to a nearby Elaine Drive residence to take safety.

There were no shots fired and no major injuries.

Becoate lists Bataan Drive in Clairton as a second address.

UPDATE: Becoate had an Aug. 22 arraignment at the Allegheny County Courthouse, resulting in a pretrial conference scheduled for Sept. 14.
