Two More DUI Arrests in Baldwin Boro

Arrest After Crash in Horning Road Tunnel

A officer arrived at a tunnel underneath railroad tracks on Horning Road near at around 4:26 a.m. on Saturday following a report of a one-vehicle accident there.

The driver in the accident—Ronald L. Upsher, 34, of Altoona Place in Mt. Lebanon—was his vehicle's only occupant. The Baldwin officer observed that Upsher had small cuts on his forehead and arms, but Upsher declined medical treatment, according to a police report.

The officer smelled alcohol and reported that Upsher admitted to recently drinking some. His driver's license was also under suspension.

Upsher failed field-sobriety and breath-analyzer tests, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test (results pending).

He was eventually taken home and released.

Arrest Near Brownsville-Curry Hollow Intersection

A police officer noticed a man driving erratically on Knoedler Road, Keeport Drive and Brownsville Road at around 3:02 a.m. on Sunday.

After watching the driver—Shawn M. Stanziana, 31, of Old Trail Road in North Huntingdon Township—swerve on Brownsville, the officer stopped him near Brownsville's Curry Hollow Road intersection, according to a police report.

The officer smelled alcohol while conversing with Stanziana and put him through non-physical field-sobriety tests since Stanziana said that his right foot was broken. He said that he was driving with his left foot.

Stanziana failed those tests and a breath-analyzer test. He also admitted to recently drinking alcohol.

He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and taken to Jefferson Regional for a blood test (results pending) before being released to the custody of a friend back on Knoedler in apartments complex.
