Noblestown Road in Collier Township is closed after a tractor-trailer trying to make a sharp turn near Rennerdale crashed and became lodged on a guardrail.

Collier police said the driver apparently was lost and tried to make the “horseshoe bend” curve just past Nike Site Road.

Officers and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 5:43 a.m. Thursday.

It’s not known how long Noblestown between Nike Site and Baldwin roads will be closed. An orange “Road Closed Ahead” sign is blocking motorists from entering the area.

Police said they’re waiting for a large tow truck to come to the scene to remove the tractor-trailer from the guardrail. The driver was not injured in the crash.

Mike, I uploaded the pic from the November incident. The first photo was today's (taken by my daughter who commented above). This is a very dangerous spot as there is also a sharp bend right before and after the horseshoe... definitely not a stretch for tractor trailers. They get stuck there at least every other week and stop traffic until they can "maneuver" their way out, usually by driving up into the hillside...or take out the guardrail. There is really no need for them to be on this road as it is all residential.

Something needs to be done.. They can't have these big trucks blocking the road and taking out guard rails as often as it happens here.. It always interferes with the kids going to school .. Buses can't get to the kids., they should prevent these trucks .. 18 wheelers.... from coming down this road.. Signs ?

@Kelli... Any updates on if/when the tractor-trailer was removed?

The tractor-trailer was gone by the time the school buses came back in the afternoon and I drove through there around 5 PM and it was cleaned up but guiderails were missing. They will replace those AGAIN! That usually takes the better part of half a day and reduces traffic to one lane through there. Something really does need to be done as this happens far too often.
