State Police Search for Missing Inmate

A state police spokeswoman said that an inmate seeking treatment at a UPMC hospital has escaped.

 said that a man serving time for aggravated assault checked himself out of a Pittsburgh hospital to escape custody. 

Inmate Kenneth Gray, 24, of Pittsburgh, was serving a sentence at the Pittsburgh-based Renewal Corrections Center when he was taken to an unspecified UPMC hospital for medical treatment, state police spokeswoman Trooper Robin Mungo said. 

Trooper Mungo said that Gray signed himself out of the hospital and is now considered missing. Those with information regarding his whereabouts are asked to contact authorities at 412-787-2000.

Gray is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
