Police Warn of Thefts from Vehicles Near Provost Road in Whitehall

Lock up.

Items were stolen recently from three vehicles parked in Whitehall Borough's Provost Road area, Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said.

The common denominator? Each vehicle—parked along either Dunn Drive, Margaret Street or Provost—was unlocked.

The incidents occurred sometime between Friday evening and Saturday morning, and the stolen items included laptops and purses.

In one instance, a vehicle owner's keys were taken, and the vehicle was removed from its driveway and, for some reason, re-parked farther down the street.

"Once again, we'd like to alert our residents and visitors to the borough to lock your cars," Chief Dolfi said. "They (thieves) are not forcibly entering the cars. They are not breaking windows out of the cars. They don't have to.

"It's unfortunate, but in today's day and age, the reality of it is—and the economic times that we're in—people are looking for easy (access to) items."
