UPDATE (SWAT Story): Police Arrest Man at Sussex-Cedric Intersection

Police and a SWAT team surrounded a house along Chelton Avenue near Queensboro Avenue in Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood for nearly four hours on Wednesday morning, but the incident has been resolved.

Police were called after a woman ran down Chelton following a domestic situation with her husband. Officers responded to 1114 Chelton Ave. at 6:30 a.m. to look for the man, who was identified by police as Michael Kreuzer, 43, of that address.

When police looked through the windows of 1114 Chelton, they saw a number of weapons and cases, including an AK-47 assault rifle, according to Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Cmdr. Scott Schubert. Officers pulled back and called in a SWAT team.

When the SWAT team arrived, they tried to contact Kreuzer in the home. When there was no response, they launched a gas deployment and also sent in a SWAT robot, which lured the family dog from the home, Schubert said.

At some point during the incident, Kreuzer escaped the house. He was eventually arrested near the corner of Sussex and Cedric avenues directly on the border of Brookline and , Schubert said.

The SWAT team was seen leaving the area at around 10:20 a.m.

Kreuzer was checked by medics inside an ambulance and then taken by a police van to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for examination before being transported to Allegheny County Jail. He will be charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest, Schubert said.

The wife was not injured.

"She's fine," Schubert said. "She's obviously distraught about what happened."

Authorities are also looking into the number of guns that Kreuzer had in his home.
