More Cats Believed Inside Charlotte Drive Home in South Baldwin

Western Pennsylvania Humane Society on scene for second day of removal process.

Patricia Rose, 53, faces possible animal cruelty charges after sheltering what is believed to be around 50 cats in dirty and unsafe conditions inside of her home at 458 Charlotte Drive in south .

Western Pennsylvania Humane Society officials removed 31 live and seven dead cats from Rose’s home on Wednesday after neighbors complained about a foul odor coming from the home, Chief Humane Officer Ronald E. Smith told the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch on Thursday.

Smith was back at 458 Charlotte on Thursday, where he said that he found two more live cats running outside on Rose’s property. Rose confirmed that the cats were hers, Smith said.

Smith also said that the Humane Society has set traps inside of Rose’s home in an attempt to catch as many as 10 more cats that she may be sheltering. The cats are hiding in piles of clothes and other items as of noon on Thursday.

Rose faces possible animal cruelty charges from the Humane Society, Smith said, and a Baldwin Borough ordinance violation for having too many animals on her property has already come down against her, a spokesperson said.
